
Paul is an experienced Chemistry Consultant, specialising in the design of scientific studies to support the understanding of product chemistry across pharmaceutical, consumer, and emerging regulated product categories. He holds a BSc in Analytical Science from Dublin City University.
Paul began his career at Almac, where he was responsible for method development and validation, as well as clinical release and stability testing of clinical supplies, supporting solid oral dose products from Phase I through to Phase III and pre-commercial stages.After seven years at Almac, Paul joined Pharmaserve, where he led the Analytical Method Development Team for three years. In this role, he oversaw the development of analytical methods for inhalation products, including pressurised metered dose inhalers.
Paul has worked within the characterisation teams at Nerudia and Imperial Brands. As a Characterisation Scientist, he focused on Next Generation Nicotine Products (NGPs), including e-vapour and heated tobacco products, across all stages of the product lifecycle. He has designed and delivered scientific studies, including stability programmes to support shelf-life claims.
Paul has worked as a consultant at Broughton Life Sciences for 5 years, supporting the regulatory submission of next-generation products and overseeing the design of analytical studies to support pharmaceutical development and stability in preparation for Marketing Authorisation Application (MAA) submissions, including engagement with regulatory authorities such as the FDA and MHRA.
Paul has developed extensive experience in cannabis and cannabinoid-containing products and has supported a wider team in the development and implementation of analytical methodologies for cannabis testing, contributing to product characterisation, quality control, and regulatory compliance. His involvement has included providing input into method selection and study design, as well as supporting stability studies.
In addition, Paul has authored regulatory narratives and technical reports to support product registration and marketing in the UK, US, and Middle East.
Paul has a passion for product safety and is an active member of a CEN standards group, contributing to the advancement of e-vapour product standards and supporting regulatory compliance across the industry.
